Gas prices in Romania to see maximum 4% rise starting October, on import prices hike

The general manager of ANRE’s Prices and Tariffs Department, Gabriel Sarbu, said last week that prices of gas extracted in Romania will remain the same in the last quarter, but imported gas prices will see a rise.

Starting July this year, internal gas prices went up from 455 lei per thousand cubic meters to 470 lei per thousand cubic meters. The current reserves are estimated at 184.9 billion cubic meters, Romania’s power strategy shows.

Internal gas production is estimated to decrease 23 percent by 2015 from 10.4 billion cubic meters to 8 billion cubic meters, according to the former Natural Gas Authority. In the same period imports will increase 63 percent, from 8.8 billion cubic meters to 14.4 billion cubic meters.
