BRD SocGen profit – Romania’s second lender hikes assets by 40% y/y in H1, to EUR 11.83bn

The bank reached assets of 43.15 billion lei (11.83 billion euros), versus 30.8 billion lei in the first six months of 2007, and assigned credits of 28.9 billion lei. Loans to individuals grew 43 percent, those for companies, 37 percent.

BRD accounts receivable stood at 28.4 billion lei in the first half, up 38.9 percent versus the same period last year, when they stood at 20.44 billion lei. Deposits advanced 41 percent to 29.9 billion lei.

The bank saw 40.83 percent higher debts in the first semester, from 21.4 billion lei to 30.19 billion lei, and 41.8 percent hike in revenues from interests and commissions, from 1.54 billion lei to 2.18 billion lei. Spendings with interests and commissions advanced 58.8 percent, reaching 974.3 million lei.

BRD posted revenues of 7.2 billion lei in the first half, up 87.99 percent versus the same period last year, and total spendings of 6.58 billion lei, 97.6 percent higher than in the similar period in 2007.

BRD SocGen saw a gross profit of 618.8 million lei in the first semester, 24.5 percent higher versus the same period in 2007, which resulted in a net profit of 515 million lei, up 23.4 percent versus the first half of 2007.

BRD SocGen counted at the end of June more than 2.5 million clients. The lender issued more than 2.2 million cards, operating a network of 1,360 ATMs.
