Romania’s current account deficit widens 98.3% in the first seven months y/y

The current account gap tempered slighlty against the first six months of the year when it had widened 108.6 percent compared to the same period last year, to 7.81 billion euros.

The trade balance deficit stood at 9.3 million euros, up 73.7 percent in first seven months of the year against the January-July 2006 period, the release said.

The services balance witnessed a 137 million euros surplus after the first seven months of the year which is a 42 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

The incomes balance saw a gap of 2.7 billion euros, 55.1 percent more than the first seven months year-on-year.

Current transfers inflows totaled 4.225 billion euros in from January to July, a 51.3 hike versus the same period last year, while outflows rose three times from 395 million euros in the first seven months last year, to 1.233 billion euros this year.
